But we have this treasure in jars of clay,
to show that the surpassing power belongs to God
and not to us.
2 Corinthians 4:7
God has commanded Christians to proclaim and defend the gospel, which is a holy privilege and pure joy. Sadly, in today’s rapidly changing world, many Christians feel perplexed, and perhaps a bit intimidated, to confront the culture with the gospel. Gospel conversations have been crowded out of the public square, relegated to the privacy of homes and places of worship.
Once Christians realize that the rules set for public discourse by a secularized age don’t apply to them, and that the seemingly invincible culture is nothing but a paper tiger, they’ll be ready to engage the culture and confront people in need with the saving gospel of Jesus Christ.
If you’d like to learn more about the forces at work in our modern world, and how to confront them with gospel truth, join us on Sunday evenings for this course on evangelism and apologetics. Your confidence will grow as you deepen your conviction in the truth, and as you discover the unstoppable power of the arsenal at your disposal when you share and defend the gospel.
The surpassing power is of God, and not of us, and is available for every gospel encounter. It’s a power that’s ready to be unleashed on the culture through faithful, courageous Christian witness.
